Joseph James PIPER and Mary Eliza DOWSON lived in Narrabri where they raised eight children. Joseph was Mayor of Narrabri and owned and ran a Stock and Station agency and Soap manufacturing business.
Mary Eliza returned to Sydney with her family and in 1913 came to Wyong with her three youngest girls by train. Reginald came along on a dray over Wisemans Ferry through the Yarramalong Valley to Jilliby where they had their dairy farm Homeleigh.
Joseph found time to leave his business and spend some time at Jilliby. Reg also spent time working in the Narrabri business.
Muriel Piper married twice, first to Dick HILTON having two daughters Muriel and Millie and after Dick HILTON’s death she married Jock HOOD in 1945.
Effie,who joined the VADS and then AMWAS during the war, lived on Jilliby Road on the front block of Homeleigh.
In 1919 Reg played football in two winning premiership teams on Saturday in Narrabri NRFC and then travelling overnight in the train to Wyong to play with Jilliby on Sunday in the Wyong and Districts Football League competition.
