Families of Wyong
Most of the information on these families comes from the Wyong Family History Group Inc. publication Wyong District and Pioneer Register published in 2012.
Births, Deaths and Marriages in the Wyong district were registered as follows: Pre 1930 events are listed under the Registration District of Gosford Post 1930 events are listed under the Registration District of Wyong. Below is an excerpt from the introduction of Wyong District and Pioneer Register. "In 1995 and 1996 Wyong Family History Group Inc produced the Wyong and Tuggerah Lakes Pre 1910 and Wyong and Tuggerah Lakes Pre 1930 Pioneer Registers. These registers have long been out of print and unavailable to interested parties for purchase. In 2009 a Pre 1950 Register was also produced. It was realised, however, that a lot of the early and important pioneers for the Wyong district were not represented in these previous volumes. In 2010 we made the decision to produce a Pioneer Register which would do justice in remembering the endeavours undertaken by these early and often forgotten pioneers. A conscious effort was made to contact as many descendants of these early settlers as possible. In many cases we were quite successful and were able to include comprehensive family information as well as biographical histories. Concurrent with the compilation of this Register was the indexing of the Personal Notices in the Wyong Advocate from 1932 to 1995. This paper contained obituaries and articles pertaining to our pioneers and many of these have been used in this book. The use of Trove and the Ryerson Index aided our research as did historical local records not previously available. Whilst this register is quite comprehensive it is not a complete record of all early settlers who contributed to the development of Wyong. It does however provide details of the trail blazers, the settlers, the developers and the service providers of Wyong from the 1880s to the 1950s and beyond. All information provided to the Wyong Family History Group Inc has been retained and is available for inspection at our Family History rooms." |
